University of Dayton Adele Center
Opened in 2017, the Adele Center is the University of Dayton’s newest student residence hall, named in honor of Adèle de Batz de Trenquelléon, co-founder of the Marianist family. This four-story, townhouse-style building houses 96 students across 24 apartments and is nestled between ArtStreet and Campus South. Designed to foster community and well-being, it features ground-floor multipurpose spaces for student services, campus ministry, meetings, and worship, while the upper floors offer quiet study areas and gathering spots filled with natural light. Each level is painted in vibrant hues—bright blue, orange, and yellow—creating a cheerful, welcoming atmosphere.
Sustainability is central to the Adele Center’s design. The LEED-certified building is equipped with 162 solar panels on its south façade, generating over 25% of its energy needs during the academic year and supplying surplus power to the campus grid in the summer.
Bayer Becker provided integrated civil engineering and landscape architecture services for the Adele Center, enhancing the Elm Street streetscape and improving pedestrian access to the historic building. Our team also designed new rear loading facilities and upgraded outdated utility systems, ensuring reliable service and supporting the building’s long-term functionality and sustainability.
