Kenton County Legacy Park
The Kenton County Legacy Park project represents a transformative investment in the community, converting a 225-acre shuttered golf course into a vibrant, multi-use destination. Backed by more than $20 million in funding, this initiative marks the most significant single investment in Kenton County’s park system. Guided by the Kenton County New Park Master Plan and shaped by extensive public input, the project is focused on creating a sustainable, accessible park that reflects the community’s priorities of enhancing quality of life, expanding recreational opportunities, and restoring the site as a lasting public asset.
Bayer Becker leads a team of key collaborators, including Human Nature and Hub + Weber, coordinating multidisciplinary expertise to deliver a comprehensive and cohesive vision for the park. The park integrates a wide range of recreational amenities with environmental restoration and resilient infrastructure. Planned improvements include asphalt multi-use trails, natural surface trails, and dedicated mountain biking routes, along with amenities such as a dog park, lake deck, skate park, multiple playgrounds, a bike park, climbing and bouldering areas, an aerial course, and a four-season shelter. The project also prioritizes the restoration of native habitats, including forested areas, streams, and meadows, while incorporating stormwater management systems to support long-term site sustainability. The resulting design balances technical performance, user experience, and environmental stewardship to deliver a functional, cost-effective, and enduring park.
