Old St. George Crossroads Church

Crossroads Church purchased the remnants of the Old St. George Church that suffered from a fire over eight years ago. The goal was to renovate and provide worship, gathering and entertainment space for its congregation. The project largely preserves the historical structure twenty feet above the floor while introducing modern renovations below that height. 

The existing garden was completely renovated as part of the project; removing overgrown plants and deteriorating pathways and replacing it with a large patio with the flexibility to accommodate groups of various sizes. Due to budgetary constraints, pavers were removed from the project in favor of concrete. The result is a patio that combines exposed aggregate and heavy broom finished concrete to provide visual interest. The building foundation is softened by a plant palette that provides seasonal interest and large pots with annuals to provide pops of color. 

The main entrance from Calhoun Street was also renovated. A new accessible ramp that provides convenient access into the building. The entrance incorporates materials and plants that complement the courtyard to provide harmony between the two spaces. Bayer Becker worked closely with the architect to provide supporting documents for permitting and assisted the construction team during installation.
