Miami University North Quad Renovation
As part of Miami University’s commitment to enhancing campus life, the North Quad project involved the renovation of Martin Dining Hall, four residence halls, and associated site infrastructure across approximately 10 acres on the Oxford campus. The design-build project focused on improving pedestrian and bicycle circulation, enhancing public safety, and upgrading utility systems to support modern campus needs.
Bayer Becker played a key role in the project, leveraging our expertise in multi-building campus design. Our team began by assembling a detailed topographic base map and coordinating with university staff and utility locators to document the site’s complex utility network. We also worked closely with the geotechnical engineer to locate test borings for the soil report. Throughout the schematic design, design development, and construction documentation phases, Bayer Becker provided civil engineering services including grading, layout, and construction detailing for pedestrian pathways, amenity areas, fire lanes, and staff parking. We also coordinated utility service upgrades for each building and supported the integration of a new hydronics network. To support the project’s LEED certification goals, our design included two rain gardens to manage and treat stormwater runoff from hardscape areas.
