The future of healthcare and education meet at Miami University’s new Health Science Center – a cutting-edge clinical health sciences and wellness facility poised to transform the landscape of medical training and well-being services. In the heart of Miami University’s inaugural “corridor of excellence,” this facility is strategically positioned near the Phillips Hall Rec Center, fostering dynamic cross-divisional collaborations in both educational and co-curricular ventures.

This remarkable facility spans an impressive 167,000 square feet and four floors, and encompasses a diverse array of programs and amenities, from pioneering PA and nursing programs to a state-of-the-art wellness center and a fully equipped health clinic. Operated by TriHealth, this facility offers enhanced services with 33 treatment rooms, a significant expansion from its previous iteration. It also includes an anatomical suite, wet/dry training facilities, nursing simulation laboratories, contemporary office spaces, innovative classrooms, a vibrant café, and various other multifunctional areas.

The construction of this $96 million project began with the demolition of the former Student and Employee Health Center, which required phasing of the project. Bayer Becker’s team relocated water and data utilities ahead of the demolition with future designs in mind. With the Campus Ave parking garage and Goggin Ice Arena directly adjacent to the project site, careful thought was given to understanding traffic flow and how the team could allow for easy maintenance of traffic on game days, but also function on a day-to-day basis for the Health Sciences visitors. Additionally, the existing stormwater connections were revised due to conflicting utility elevations. To address this, a rare elliptical pipe was designed to work around the other existing utilities.
