Cincinnati Convention Center Renovation
The $209 million renovation of the iconic Duke Energy Convention Center is transforming the 10.7-acre site into a state-of-the-art facility. The project includes the addition of 13,000 square feet of new convention space in the center itself, plus another anticipated 80,000 square feet in the new convention center hotel.
This extensive renovation not only revamps the building’s exterior facade, which will be entirely updated for a fresh and modern look, but also involves a major overhaul of the building’s core systems, ensuring the facility’s longevity for decades to come. Among the improvements, the junior ballroom will be renovated and expanded, with a new rooftop deck offering additional event space. In addition, Elm Street, between Fifth and Sixth streets, will be permanently closed to facilitate a seamless pedestrian transition to newly developed outdoor convention space at the former Millennium Hotel site.
Bayer Becker provided civil engineering, surveying, and landscape architecture services for the project. The design team was responsible for the streetscape improvements along Fifth and Sixth Streets and played a key role in the vacation of the Elm Street right-of-way. The redevelopment of this area, along with the old Millennium Hotel site, will create a vibrant new city park.
