Project Highlight
As the Kenwood Place project grew and changed Midland Atlantic wanted a consultant capable of providing multiple services. Phase one of the project featured the demolition of an existing building and combination of two parcels into one 80,000 square foot retail center. The combination necessitated massive grading and storm water design. The project is bordered on three sides by a combination of residential and commercial. To help provide additional onsite regional storm water storage, a storm water vault was created. The vault contains storm water runoff from the building area and releases it over time.
With the increase in square footage also came a need for extra parking. To achieve the necessary parking requirements, new parking construction, resurfacing of the existing parking lot and a parking garage underneath the project were created. Bayer Becker’s transportation group provided services for the access drives and entrances to the site per the Township’s requirements.
Phase II of the project involved the addition of a movie theater to the development. The theatre required additional “overflow” parking, which would be provided by Kenwood Towne Centre located across Kenwood Road. To accommodate additional traffic and possible pedestrians crossing Kenwood Road the access drives for Kenwood Place and Kenwood Towne Centre were aligned. Bayer Becker’s multi discipline capability and experience with similar projects helped deliver a project that not only adds to the Kenwood corridor, but does so safely.
