Bayer Becker’s earthwork expertise was put to the test on Boone County’s Public Works Facility. As project managers, Bayer Becker played an active role in monitoring the earthwork quantities for the 14 acre site which was completely redesigned to maximize existing space. Depending on the quantity of the material, approximately 50,000 cubic yards of dirt had to be undercut, recompacted, or hauled away. Three maintenance garages and a salt dome were added as a result of the improvements. In addition to the new garages and salt dome, the existing site access road was relocated. At another Bayer Becker project offsite, but nearby, a facility served as a dirt donor site. This borrow area had to be graded to determine and create the dirt needed to complete the fill.
In addition to the site earthwork, Bayer Becker also provided design solutions for rain gardens and water quality basins to control site runoff from the salt storage and parking areas.
